Over to You

,

UPDATE – I’ve left this post up for posterity, but we’ve now got enough questions to answer for a great blog. Thanks all!

___

We’ve had many lovely replies on the blog, plus lots of messages from friends and family of what people have been interested in. We’re so touched people are enjoying following our adventure… as when we started this blog it was very much a space for ourselves to capture memories, reflect and let people follow along if they were so inclined. So a big thanks for being with us!

We’ve also noticed one comment that often comes up… “thanks for saying that, I was wondering how it works/how it feels!”

So we thought we’d mix things up a little bit and see what you want to know that we haven’t covered yet! (Don’t worry – the blog will continue with photos of pastries, pies, weather commentary and the like!)

So drop a question in the comments below, and we’ll do a pre-Christmas blog responding to them all! Anything about what we write about in the blog is fair game… us, adventures, planning. Stupidest argument? Best pie? Most memorable day? Worst decision?

(And a humble note… we know we’re not influencer superstars, but thought this could be a bit of fun to help us break up the blogging from our perspective of what we think and see, and therefore share!)

Definitely not questioning our own choices here! 😬

Thanks everyone – what great questions! We’d best close this for comments now as I’m busy writing it, and there’s already lots to answer!

Lots of great questions so far, which I’m looking forward to hearing your thoughts on. I was going to ask which is your favourite country but I think I know the answer to that one already. My question (well, I’ve got lots but will stick to one): What has been the biggest surprise of your journey?

Hi both, the pros must outweigh the cons as you’re both still out there! Two wonders: 1. In what way(s) has anything on your travels to date genuinely, maybe scarily, pushed you out of your comfort zone? And 2. I know the trip’s not over yet (so this is perhaps a different question than if I asked it post-trip) what, so far, would you do differently? Happy pedalling x

Hello! Kind of a silly question but I’ve been wondering if you wear padded bike shorts? Or if you have ridden so many miles that padded shorts are no longer necessary?

As a reminder, we met on bikes as we were coming into Passau in May and camped together at the edge of the river. Have enjoyed following your travels since then!

How do you ‘enjoy the journey’ or are there just some days when all you can think about is the destination?
Speaking of destinations can you ever see yourself returning to a desk and a computer job?
Will you have biked more miles or flown more miles in 2023?

Hi both, it’s been great following your adventures. Although I don’t think I’ll be cycling any time soon! Haha. My question would be: Have you learnt anything new about yourselves/ each other? Safe travels. Take care xx

Hello intrepid travellers! Great questions already from others, especially the huge quads one.
I have many questions, mostly not very deep or meaningful, but including:
    – What are your Christmas Day plans this year?
    – Favourite exact spot/view so far? (I’m terrible at choosing favourites, so shouldn’t really be asking this)
    – What’s the hottest you’ve been and where were you?
    – What’s the coldest you’ve been and where were you?
    – What will be meal you make a bee-line for when you get home?
Thank you for all your fab stories and sharing an insight into something so monumental with us all. xxx

We are in awe of you both and wonder how you motivate yourselves to get back on those bikes day after day? I also have asked your mum on numerous occasions Matt “how many pairs of pants have you taken with you”?!!!!

Where’s been the most comfortable seat you’ve found on your travels?

How easy/hard has it been to live in the present while on your trip? I spend a lot of time trying to be more mindful these days but I imagine cycling while being present is actually quite hard.

My first thought to this blog was ‘how are their bodies standing up to the constant long distance cycling?’ Have you both developed huge quads etc? Just something that friends often ask me too – so over to you…. Love Mum xx

Hello lovelies. Oooooh. So many things I’d like to ask! Hopefully there will be chance in due course…in the meantime, what about: is there something particular you’ve learned from the trip that you’d like to share? Maybe a piece of wisdom (or more than one) that you’ve gained? Perhaps something you wished you’d known before and/or some of your loyal readers could learn from? And it could be life changing or just a small very small every day thing. Big love Jx
