We’re Matt and Sarah – a couple in our late 30s who are about to set off on a big trip. Starting in Lincolnshire (what better place?) we are going to explore as much of the world as we can by bike; with each other, our tent and the big outdoors for company!
This isn’t our first big adventure – a few years ago we were lucky enough to spend three years ‘on honeymoon’ – including travelling through India and Southeast Asia before living and working in New Zealand and returning to the UK via Central America. We chronicled this big trip and had a fantastic time.
Since 2015 we’ve had lots of mini adventures and lots of working, Matt in improvement in the NHS with a myriad of fantastic colleagues, and me in local government with some real keepers! We’ve made the most of living in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire – a small town with a big heart which we call home.
We’ve also been on another big adventure of a very different sort. Back in 2018 we started trying for a family. Unfortunately nearly five years later this adventure didn’t have the ending we had hoped for despite lots of trying the normal way, five rounds of IVF, an operation for Matt and lots of heartache for us both.
It wasn’t to be as it turns out and so we’re now on a mission to find a different sort of Fertile Ground by setting off on our bikes to find out what life has in store for us next. Wish us luck…
